Our Story
A Message from the Founder
“Since I was raised in China during my early childhood, my grandparents and I developed a close bond. When I moved back to America, we drifted apart due to conflicting time zones and my busy schedule.
Being an active volunteer in several Asian cultural events in the recent years, I often witness our elders tasked with looking after the younger children. This reminded me of my current relationship with my grandparents and evoked a powerful desire to reconnect with them. Through UnificAsian, I want to share my experiences and help other communities reconnect with their elders too!”

About Us
Living to an old age is an extraordinary achievement. It means meeting thousands of people, overcoming millions of obstacles, and witnessing the birth of a new era. But living to an old age can also be lonely. Seniors who live to an old age see loved ones pass away and are thrown into a society moving at a pace faster than ever. The only things they have are their decades of experiences—traditions.
UnificAsian is the bridge for asian seniors between the modern and traditional worlds, integrating traditional and modern culture.
It’s exactly what it sounds like: Unification
Our Story
With advancements in technology, our modern world is changing dramatically. From 3-D printing to advanced robot dexterity to GMOs, there are many bright minds striving to be the next Einstein.
But what about our seniors—the Einsteins of yesterday? While the rest of the world moves forward, the elderly often find themselves tripping on what many find to be simple everyday tasks: navigating through smart phones and the ever-changing modern culture.
That’s where UnificAsian comes in. Founded in 2019 under the leadership of Arden Chan, UnificAsian is run by a group of volunteers of Asian descent that aims to bridge modern and traditional culture among Asian immigrants in the Northern Chicagoland area.
Today, UnificAsian continues to be a resource for learning, networking, organizing, and sponsoring events of interest to its community and providing public services to the Chinese and Asian American community.
